Biography
I am Chairman Emeritus and Professor of Radiation Oncology. I was also trained as a radiation biologist and hold the Doctor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh. I received my M.D. degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and did internship, residency and was on staff at Hahnemann University Hospital until I came to the University of Miami in 1989. I am Board certified in Radiation Oncology. I became the second Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology, first as Acting Chairman in August 1994 and then as Permanent Chairman in March 1996. I stepped down from that position in June 2008.
I have published extensively and I have achieved National and International prominence in the special area of the radiation treatment of eye tumors. My other interests are in Head and Neck oncology, Neuro-oncology, Lymphomas and re-treatment of previously treated patients. I am certified in Gamma Knife and Cyberknife Stereotactic Radiosurgery and assess and treat patients by these stereotactic techniques.
